DHL to create 900 new jobs at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport hub

LBR Staff Writer Published 24 February 2017

DHL Express has unveiled plans to add up to 900 new jobs at its Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport hub in the US.

The company recently completed $108m expansion of its Americas Hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport.

The expansion is expected to increase man power at the hub to around 3,300 from the current 2,400 employees.

On 4 March, DHL will conduct a job fair at the CVG Centre in Erlanger to fulfill the new positions.

The expansion included a new north ramp, which was developed on 45 acres of land. It will offer parking space for 16 additional planes, helping to increase the hub’s total capacity to 65 aircraft gates.

DHL’s expansion is also comprised of additional automated sorting capability and 40 new reload positions, which will allow the hub to deal with the growing shipment volume expected to occur in the US and across the Americas.

In addition, the company has developed new storage and warehouse space for ramp equipment and shipping containers.

Since 2009, DHL has invested around $280m in its Americas Hub at the CVG. The firm’s Americas Region includes North and South America, in addition to Caribbean.

DHL Express Americas CEO Mike Parra said: “We are excited to leverage our newly expanded Americas Hub and welcome talented potential candidates to fill these new positions.

“As we look to the future, we know the continued investment in motivated people is the key to ensuring that we meet the demands of our customers and have the ability to handle the continued growth and expansion that will occur at our CVG Hub location.”

Through its subsidiaries, DHL offers portfolio of logistics services ranging from national and international parcel delivery, e-commerce shipping and fulfillment solutions, international express, road, air and ocean transport to industrial supply chain management.
