DSV to build EUR60m logistics centre in Krefeld, Germany
Danish transport firm DSV has unveiled plans to build a EUR60m, 80,000sq m logistics centre in Krefeld-Fichtenhain, Germany.
Habacker, a real estate developer, will start construction of the new facility on the 168,000sq m plot in Krefeld-Fichtenhein in 2013.
The logistics provider expects to move into the new facility in 2014, which will combine its road, air & sea and solutions divisions in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Upon completion, the new facility will house DSV facilities currently located in Neuss, Mettman, Duisburg, Nettetal, Dusseldorf and Willich.
DSV said that the planned logistics capacity of the new site will be between 50,000sq m to 60,000sq m with an additional 15,000sq m cross-docking area and 7,000sq m of office space.
DSV Solutions managing director of Germany Harald Shefft said that the consolidation of the company's branches into one large, multi-divisional logistic centre is expected to bring substantial synergy effects.
"Additionally, it underlines our strategy to increase crossdivisional collaboration in order to offer our clients truly integrated end-to-end logistics solutions."
