Kuehne + Nagel to acquire Link Logistics
Kuehne + Nagel has entered into an agreement to acquire Link Logistics International, an Australian freight forwarder, to expand its activities in the field of perishables logistics.
Link Logistics was founded in 1998 as a privately-owned business with headquarters in Melbourne and facilities in Sydney and Tasmania.
The Australian freight forwarder offers services for the supply of perishable goods to hospitality and consumer markets, mainly in Asia and the Middle East.
The company has onsite facilities for grading and sorting perishable goods including meat, fruit and vegetables, as well as cooling and labelling capabilities.
Kuehne + Nagel International executive vice president of air logistics Tim Scharwath said the company consider sthe acquisition of Link Logistics to be a further strategic step for the global expansion of its perishables logistics operations.
"It will help accelerate our growth in this business segment and besides Europe we can also even better serve our customers in the Asian and Middle East perishable segments," Scharwath said.
